Businesses that have been constantly affected due to local lockdown and targeted restrictions will now be able to receive grants worth up to £1,500 every three weeks.
This is a fund to provide financial aid for businesses that are facing operating and economic challenges caused by the local restrictions levied in their local area as a result of COVID-19.
Each payment will be made for a 3 week lockdown period. These grants provide businesses with a safety net as they must temporarily close their doors to help save lives in their local areas.
The fund consists of two separate grants:
- Local Lockdown Non Domestic Rate Grant
- Local Lockdown Discretionary Grant
Are you eligible for the local lockdown grant?
Each business is eligible if meet the below criteria:
- If you occupy a property and pay business rates
- If you have been required to close due to local government guidelines and have been forced to close from 9 September.
- If you have been closed for at least three consecutive weeks
- If you have been unable to meet with customers/clients
Businesses that occupy a property and have been forced to close but do not pay business rates may be eligible based on their local council discretion. Each business will be entitles to one grant per property occupied, this can include retail, café, restaurants etc. Primarily business that require a customers to visit but have resorted to takeaway only.
What are you entitled to?
If a business has a rateable value less than £51,000 or occupy a property or part of a property subject to an annual rent or mortgage payment of less than £51,000, it will receive £1,000.
If a business has a rateable value more than £51,000 or part of a property subject to an annual rent or mortgage payment of more than £51,000, it will receive £1,500. The Local Discretionary Grant will be available for businesses struggling without the above conditions for eligibility.
